Exmouth Community Car Service

The car service was launched
in 2003 with a lottery grant and was an instant success. We currently
have 20 drivers who service upwards of 2,000 clients and carry out
5,500 journeys a year taking people to hospitals in Birmingham,
Plymouth, Bristol, Exeter and to all local services.

The service has become a life line to so many people in this town and we receive many letters of appreciation and relief that this service exists. The service is so successful because of the care, patience and time the drivers afford their clients.
Who is this Service For?
The Community Car Service has
been set up to provide travel by car for frail, elderly and disabled
individuals, who may have difficulty using public transport.
The main objective is to make it much easier to get to local Hospitals, Health centres, dentists, Opticians, Chiropodists, Physiotherapists and other venues where care and treatment is provided. It could be that you need treatment yourself or you may wish to visit a friend or relative in in a hospital or care home.
In all cases, we shall endeavor to provide a car and driver to satisfy your particular need. Our volunteer drivers are caring helpful people who donate their time and use of their car to provide this needed service.

Passengers traveling within the Exmouth area are charged a set fee of
£5.00 return.
Passengers traveling from Exmouth to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital are charged £16.50 return.
We are happy to negotiate cost and travel arrangements for other locations.
If the client is in receipt of benfits, please ask the driver for details on how you can claim towards the journey.
If a driver is asked to return later in the day, a charge of £27.50 will be charged as it necessitates a double journey.
